
Freestone County Goat Breeders Association
The Freestone County Goat Breeders Association (FCGBA) is offering two $500 scholarships to a high school graduating seniors who has demonstrated an interest in raising and showing goats and meet the FCGBA criteria listed below.
Scholarship Guidelines:
Qualification:
Applicant must:
(1) be a current resident of one of the following counties - Freestone, Anderson, Henderson, Limestone, Leon, Navarro;
(2) be a member in good standing of a 4-H club or FFA
(3) demonstrate strong academic achievement
(4) demonstrate volunteer service at school and in his/her community
(5) have been accepted to a technical school, 2 or 4 year college or university by summer or fall 2009
(6) be scheduled for high school graduation by the spring semester 2009
(7) complete an page essay of not more than 1000 words (typed) on: “How I Became Involved in Raising Goats”
Procedure:
The application must be completed with all required attachments and forwarded to the Freestone County Goat Breeders Association, P. O. Box 1553, Fairfield, Texas 75340 by April 8, 2010. Include:
(1) a copy of your school record and letter of recommendation from your school counselor and/or principal demonstrating your academic achievement including confirmation of your anticipated graduating date;
(2) a letter of recommendation from your FFA and/or your 4-H sponsor and copy of 4-H record book, if applicable;
(3) letter of recommendation from a community or government official concerning your volunteer service;
(4) letter of acceptance and/or confirmation of enrollment in a technical school, or 2 or 4 year college or university
(5) your 1000 word essay (with cover page including your name, address, telephone number, high school, and other relevant information)
Selection:
Applications will be judged and ranked by the FCGBA scholarship committee. A personal interview of the finalists will be conducted by the scholarship committee before the recipient(s) is selected. The scholarship will be awarded only one time to any student. Payment of the scholarship is dependent on verification of satisfactory enrollment in a technical school, 2 or 4 year college or university. The scholarship must be used within two (2) years of the date it is awarded or it will be void. Award of the scholarship will be made by the president or other officer or member of the FCGBA at an appropriate date and location (such as the high school awards assembly of the recipient and/or local county fairs, FFA, or 4H meetings/banquets).
